Weekend Wear: Peacock Redux

Although I'm still not quite back up to full speed, I was feeling so much better yesterday that I decided to don my peacock tights1 even though I was just working from home on revisions.  Since the Pantone gods have decided that turquoise is the "it" color for 2010, I decided it would be fitting to wear an outfit that featured the color on the first day of the year.   I also wore a favorite skirt of mine that a good friend made for me a few years ago for my birthday.  She took an American Apparel skirt and added a bit of tulle, ribbon, and flower shaped beads to it.
The skirt has lost some of it's shape, as tends to happen with all things that I own from American Apparel.  It has seen a lot of wear, though, if not on this blog.  It is definitely well traveled.  It has been to Europe and to Mexico, as well as around the Midwest.  Unfortunately, at some point in the past couple of years I got a big stain on it somehow and didn't notice it until it had set in, so I don't wear it outside the house much anymore.  I was talking about the friend who made it yesterday with another mutual friend, so it seemed fitting to wear it today.

1. Turquoise turtleneck - Necessary Objects (Filene's Basement)
Skirt - Gift from a friend
Tights - ModCloth (remixed)
Cardi - August Silk (thrifted and remixed)
Wedges - Mia (DSW and remixed)
Earrings - Gift

My cough continues to linger a little bit, but I'm feeling so much better!  It's so nice to be able to work for more than five minutes without having a coughing fit.  I actually was really productive yesterday.  I hope everyone is having an excellent start to 2010!  I'm starting to think about what to pack for my conference and job interview next week and my first class of the term, but more on those topics later....

I've been wanting to thank you all for reading this blog and for all the lovely thoughtful comments that you've left on our posts!  I also wanted to ask you, dear readers, what would you like to see more of on this blog in 2010?  What can we improve?
