First Day Finery: Virtual Conference Panel I

Yesterday, we Fashionable Academics issued a CFP for first day of the term outfits.  We would love to see pictures of your outfits, which you can send to our email address: fashionableacademics@gmail.com, and/or, if you have your own style blog, send us a link to your outfit.  We'll be taking submissions and putting together panels through the month of January, so do write in!

Here is the outfit that Lisa of Knit, Teach, Ride put together for her first day of school back in September.  I always love the elegant pairing of blouse and pencil skirt in her ensemble.

Clare of Between Laundry Days put together a first day outfit for her new job on a college campus yesterday.  (Congratulations, Clare!)  The different shades of blue that she put together in this outfit are stunning on her.

As for me, I wore an outfit that was almost a repeat, but with different accessories and footwear.1 I wore this dress on the first day of the fall term, as well, and I've paired it with this cardigan before, but with so much snow on the ground, I needed some snow stomping boots to wear with it yesterday.

1. Dress - Rabbit Rabbit (Filene's Basement and remixed)
Cardi - NY&Co. (remixed)
Purple tights - Target (remixed)
Boots - John Fluevog (remixed)
Belt - Target
Necklace - Etsy

I really liked this outfit, and I think it matches my teaching personality quite well.  It's energetic and a tad on the bold side.  The flower on the cardigan shows that I'm approachable, but it has an edge of hard-ass to it in the Bondgirl boots.  I also couldn't resist throwing in a touch of history geek with the 1863 Parisian fashion magazine necklace.

I can't wait to see what you all wore/are wearing/will wear, dear readers! Again, we will take submissions through the month.
