Product Review: Shabby Apple Sundance Kid Dress

A couple of weeks ago Shabby Apple contacted me about the possibility of reviewing one of their dresses.*  As you may remember, I have a couple of their dresses and love them both, so I jumped at the chance to lay my hands on another one.  Since one of the gaps in my wardrobe was a brown dress, I found myself immediately drawn to the Sundance Kid, one of the lovely dresses in Shabby Apple's Baja line.
As the website says (and is often the case with Shabby Apple frocks), this dress fits generously.  I didn't have to worry about it fitting my butt and hips because of the cut.  I wondered whether or not a medium would accommodate my busty chest and my safety's shoulders, though.  In the end, I took the risk and ordered a medium.  The dress is a teensy tiny bit tight in the bust, but it fits really well everywhere else.
The Sundance Kid arrived while I was in Italy, and I wore it the first day that I got back home.  It's made of a lightweight cotton poplin, and it wrinkles a bit more easily than I would care for, but that's nothing an iron (if you're not in the middle of a move and can be bothered to find yours) can't take care of.  It has just the perfect amount of stretch.
After one wearing, I give the Shabby Apple Sundance Kid Dress the following marks:

Comfort: A
Cuteness: A +
Quality: A
Versatility: A -
Durability ??? (If my other Shabby Apple dresses are any indication, this dress will hold up quite well.)
Bonus:  This dress has pockets, and I love a dress with pockets!!  I'm a fan of the buttons too.
I would definitely wear this dress for teaching or a day at the library with boots or flats or pumps.  I'd also wear it with heels or metallic cagey gladiators for a date night out.  My only doubt about the versatility of this dress stems from the shape of the sleeves and the collar.  They don't seem particularly conducive to layering.

If you've been coveting the Sundance Kid or any of Shabby Apple's other dresses, swimwear, or accessories, you should know that Shabby Apple is offering our readers 10% of their purchases.  Just enter our email address: fashionableacademics@gmail.com at checkout to apply the coupon.
