Versace Perfumes: A Wonderful Variety of Scents

Versace Perfumes: A Wonderful Variety of Scents

By Pham Juliat

Versace is one of the major brands in high fashion and everything from their clothing to sunglasses and home products are very popular. Versace also produces fragrances to match their bright and bold style and their latest perfume, Vanitas, is set to hit stateside in 2012. Other Versace perfumes include Versense, Woman, Bright Crystal, Crystal Noir, Signature, Versus, Red Jeans and Baby Rose Jeans.

The most popular Versace fragrances are the Versace Crystal perfume and the Versace Jeans collection. Crystal Noir was launched in 2004 and is one of the best rated Versace fragrances and contains aldehydes, tuberose, orange blossom, gardenia, amber, coconut, cherry and grapefruit notes.

Unlike many of the currently available perfumes that are sweet, girly or cute, the Versace Crystal Noir perfume is dark, spicy and seductive. While you are most likely to recognize white floral and coconut smell, but the amber base also comes through and makes this scent perfect for wearing during the fall or winter season.

The Bright Crystal fragrance on the other hand is very much a fruity floral fragrance that is not particularly memorable but is pleasing and can be used for any occasion. This is an excellent go-to fragrance when you just cannot find something right.

Notes include iced accord, yuzu, pomegranate, peony, magnolia, lotus flower, acajou, vegetal amber and musk to combine into a sheer perfume.

The Versense scent is easily described, fresh, that is what it is. Top notes are bergamot, green mandarin and fig zests. Mid notes are sea lily, jasmine and cardamom while base notes are sandalwood, cedar, olive wood and musk.

Excellent lasting power combined with a fresh citrusy opening that eventually turns into cardamom and then the sensual and woodsy musk and sandalwood in the dry down. Versace Versus was first launched in 1992 but a newer version was released earlier this year. The new Versus perfume is a re-composition and comes in a bluish-purple bottle. The new Versus features kumquat, star apple and lemon in the top notes.

Middle notes are orange blossom, stephanotis and centifolia rose while the base includes musk, patchouli and ambrette seed. It is clearly a fruity-floral scent but is somewhat different from what is available on the market. Users generally like it as long as it agrees with their body chemistry but it is not mind-blowing or amazing.

Versace perfumes in the past have been both very good and quite bad. The latest fragrances generally are pleasing but not attention grabbing like some of their previous efforts. We look forward to trying out Versace Vanitas when it arrives in 2011 as it just might be the one.

Christian Dior Fragrances: Old Classics & New

Christian Dior Fragrances: Old Classics & New

Author: realwomanjeans

Christian Dior was a very influential French designer and created the Christian Dior brand, which produces haute couture as well as retailing it. Christian Dior SA also produces makeup, skincare and fragrances and some of their perfumes are amongst the most popular today.
The first Christian Dior perfume was the Miss Dior launched in 1947. The Miss Dior perfume contains aldehydes, gardenia, bergamot, carnation, jasmine, neroli, rose, narcissus, leather, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, oakmoss and vetiver amongst its many notes.
Considered by many to be a classic, the Miss Dior fragrance is very feminine, classy and although it has been altered with the passage of time, still retains the core of what made it such a success in the first place.
Some of the more popular Christian Dior fragrances include J'adore Floreale, Miss Dior Cherie, Midnight Poison, Forever and Ever, J'adore L'Absolu, Addict Shine, Pure Poison, Addict 2, Diorella, Addict, Poison, Dune, Hypnotic Poison, Dolce Vita, Diorissimo and Escale A Portofino.
Eau Fraiche was launched in 1953 and is still in production chiefly because of its immense popularity. Categorized as a classic by Dior itself, the Eau Fraiche has mandarin orange and lemon top notes. The heart is rosewood and the base notes are vanilla and oak moss.
Dune is a more recent creation, launched in 1991, this perfume features bergamot, mandarin, palisander, aldehyde, peony and broom as its top notes. Heart notes include jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, lily, wallflower and lichen.
The base notes are vanilla, patchouli, benzoin, sandalwood, amber, oakmoss, and musk and overall Christian Dior Dune elicits an oceanside or desert feel that is a great signature scent and smells fresh comforting.
Amongst the latest Dior fragrances is the Christian Dior Addict, which was initially made available in 2002. Remarkable for its strong vanilla scent, the Dior Addict has strong sillage and staying power and is for this reason vastly popular.
Unlike many scents that become popular due to floral, woodsy or fruity scents that are stereotypically feminine, the Dior Addict is an oriental fragrance that has a very strong scent at the beginning that gradually mellows down to a beautiful, warm vanilla scent with hints of incense and sandalwood.
Dior perfumes are not typical commercial perfumes targeted for the teen or tween market. Each scent has a unique personality which some may like and others hate, but considering the success of Dior fragrances, it seems quite clear that many more like them than hate them.
You can find all these Christian Dior fragrances at Real Woman Jeans and avail discounts of up to 50% as well as free shipping with our special offers.

VOLTAIRE: The Inspiration behind a fragrance

VOLTAIRE: The Inspiration behind a fragrance

By Felicia Hazzard

I remember the first time I became fascinating with the history of the French Monarchy and how it all came to an end during the French Revolution.

During the Enlightenment period, there was a French writer who secretly wrote and published many books about his hatred for the French Monarchy and ignited the citizens of France to revolt against the Monarchy. The name of the author is Francois-Marie Arouet de Voltaire. Voltaire wrote his most famous satire novel, Candide in 1758 and was known as one of the greatest writers of mankind.

Now, in the twenty-first century, we are still inspired by the book, Candide and for natural perfumer and owner of Aftelier Perfumes, Mandy Aftel she created a new fragrance giving homage to Voltaire and his book, Candide by composing CANDIDE PERFUME.

CANDIDE PERFUME represents a “bright, uplifting floral scent for men and women that give the theme of optimism through sublime jasmine and age-old frankincense”.

The scent of jasmine plays a major part in CANDIDE PERFUME for its uplifting aroma and its adds a sensual, warm lush tone to this fragrance. It is also made with grapefruit, blood orange and olibanum.

Ms. Aftel took the essence of the novel, Candide and used the perfume notes to give it an upbeat and “take charge attitude” of your own destiny. It is very warm on the skin and it stays on for several hours.

CANDIDE PERFUME was launched in 2010.

YSL Perfumes Picks 2011

YSL Perfumes Picks 2011

Author: realwomanjeans

Yves Saint Laurent was one of the most influential fashion designers in the past century and the company founded by of the same name continues to be an important part of the industry. In addition to clothing, YSL also produces makeup, skincare and fragrances.
One of the most popular fragrances from a designer label ever to be created is the YSL Opium, a spicy oriental perfume that cause somewhat of a furor due to its controversial name and advertising.

The Yves Saint Laurent Opium features mandarin orange, clove, plum, pepper, coriander and bay leaf as its top notes. Middle notes are lily of the valley, jasmine, carnation, rose, cinnamon, peach and orris root.

Base notes consist of vetiver, tolu, patchouli, sandalwood, cedar, myrrh, amber, incense, musk, labdanum, benzoin and castoreum.

The YSL Opium perfume introduced a unique spicy scent at a time when oriental fragrances were relatively uncommon, and that in addition to its somewhat racy marketing led to its success.

Other popular Yves Saint Laurent fragrances are Belle D'opium, Parisienne, Elle, Opium, Paris D'Yves Saint Laurent, Cinema, Baby Doll, Yvresse, Y and Ysl Young Sexy Lovely.
The Y Yves Saint Laurent perfume is one of the most pleasing perfumes currently available. While it means different things to different women, it is almost universally liked. Top notes consist of galbanum, gardenia, peach and honeysuckle.

Middle notes are rose, jasmine, orris, hyacinth and ylang-ylang while base notes are oakmoss, amber, patchouli, civet, vetiver and benzoin. A very good example of fruity chypre perfumes, the Y fragrance was launched in 1964 and is still in production today.
Another popular YSL fragrance is the Baby Doll fragrance, which was launched in 2000. A long lasting rose fragrance that has a fruity top note, Baby Doll is not the sort of girly airheaded perfume you might think it is from its name.

Rather it is mature, feminine and perfect for women of all ages, the bottle is unstable and some might find that annoying but the long lasting Baby Doll perfume itself is a delight.
Notes include blackcurrant, orange, apple and pineapple. Middle notes are lily of the valley, rose, freesia and heliotrope while base notes are tonka, cedar, sandal and vanilla.
You can find all these YSL perfumes and more at Real Woman Jeans and with our special offer you can get up to 55% off as well as free shipping.
