In Europe in the Middle Ages, pattens, or a wedge type shoe, were worn so that people wouldn't have to step in the human waste that covered the streets.
Back to modern times, sexy high heels are a popular form of shoe that women love, but as I mentioned before, there are a lot of different types. Platforms have a wide, thick sole to go along with the heel. They are considered to be very comfortable because the angle of the foot isn't as great as it is with normal heels. Wedges have a heel that fills the whole space below both the heel and the arch of the foot. There are even wedges that have a platform in them at the same time, so you're getting both a platform and a wedge for the price of one. Sexy high heels are a great way to feel good about your body.
